Eliminating Health Disparities by Addressing the Social Determinants of Health

PLACE MATTERS is a major initiative of the Joint Center to build the capacity of community leaders to address social, economic and environmental conditions in communities that shape health and health outcomes. PLACE MATTERS is designed to improve the health outcomes of participating communities through shared learning experiences. The program assists participating teams in developing and implementing community-based strategies to address the social factors that determine health. The PLACE MATTERS initiative aims to address health equity by cultivating new leadership and advancing the Fair Health Movement one community at a time.

We teamed with the Latin American Health Institute to come up with an educational campaign to raise awareness about the importance of participation in the research for an HIV vaccine.  Through the campaign we represented the Latino community and those who work closely on these issues. The campaign has been published in a local Hispanic newspaper as well as a very well-known local health magazine.

Boston Public Health Commission has been working on the issue of pest control management and in these efforts asked us to create the educational video to raise awareness about the method that they have developed and promote for pest control management.

We recently began developing an educational campaign to raise awareness about the importance of research for the HIV vaccine.

We have been working in collaboration with FitzGerald & Company developing their corporate video.
